On June 23, the Navarra Day event was successfully held in Beijing as part of the 4th China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE). The event featured speeches by Mr. Mikel Irujo, Minister of Industry and Ecological and Digital Transition of the Government of the Foral Community of Navarra; Mr. Zhai Libo, Chief Representative of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Office in Spain; and Ms. Qian Lijuan, Director of the Investment Promotion Coordination Division of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology.
Minister Irujo pointed out that Navarre, as the first Spanish regional government to fully participate in CISCE, has a privileged strategic position to access the European market, an innovation ecosystem that integrates collaboration among industry, academia, and research, and a solid regional economy. The region is deeply integrated into central European industrial networks for electric mobility, batteries, and renewable energy, making it a direct enclave for Chinese companies to access the European market.
For his part, Mr. Zhai Libo emphasized that Navarre, thanks to its comprehensive industrial clusters in renewable energy, automotive components, and biomedicine, its mature policies supporting foreign investment, and its strategic location with access to the European market, has established itself as one of the most attractive regions for Chinese companies in Spain.
Ms. Qian Lijuan emphasized that Chongqing, as an important manufacturing base and open gateway in western China, boasts a strong industrial foundation in sectors such as automotive, electronics and information, and industrial equipment. The concentration of Navarre's industrial clusters in these sectors fully aligns with Chongqing's industrial development lines, which opens up broad prospects for collaboration between the two parties.
During the event, the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology and the Department of Industry, Ecological Transition and Digitalization of the Foral Community of Navarre signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Friendly Exchange and Cooperation, with the aim of collaborating in three main areas: automotive and advanced manufacturing, healthcare and biomedicine, and agricultural products and food processing. Ms. Qian Lijuan and Minister Irujo signed the document on behalf of their respective parties.
During the industrial promotion session, Mr. Íñigo Arruti, General Director of Business Promotion and Infrastructure of the Government of Navarre, presented the comprehensive service system ranging from the initial expression of investment interest to the materialization of the project. Likewise, representatives of the European Center for Enterprise and Innovation of Navarre (CEIN) presented the entrepreneurial ecosystem and the region's development model. Representatives of the National Renewable Energy Centre of Navarre (CENER), the Navarre Health Cluster (NHC), the Construction Industrialization Cluster of Navarre (iCONS), and the Audiovisual Cluster of Navarre (CLAVNA) presented, respectively, their technological advantages and collaborative projects in their respective fields.
The event, organized by the Government of the Foral Community of Navarre, was attended by more than 80 people. During the business and networking session, the participating companies held practical and efficient talks with the delegation from Navarre in areas such as smart industrial equipment and renewable energy technologies. This presentation event has created a precise connection platform for Chinese and Spanish companies, which will further boost cooperation in industrial supply chains between the two countries in sectors such as new energies and smart manufacturing.
