On September 14, a delegation from the Junta de Extremadura visited Chongqing and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Chongqing Commission of Information Economy and Technology, marking the start of a new stage of industrial collaboration between the two regions.

As part of an industrial cooperation symposium held in Chongqing, the Department of Economy, Employment and Digital Transformation of the Junta de Extremadura and the Commission of Economy and Information Technology of Chongqing signed a memorandum of understanding for exchange and friendly cooperation.
Both parties held a deep exchange around three priority areas — new energy vehicles, food processing and agricultural products, and renewable energy—, fostering a precise connection between the needs for cooperation and the resources advantages of each region.

Chongqing It supports the internationalization of complete vehicles and promotes the establishment of sales and after-sales centers in Spain, as well as the participation of companies from both regions in the component supply chain.
Extremadura It strengthens cooperation on intelligent and connected vehicles and their components, studies investment opportunities and technological cooperation, and provides support in investment consulting, location selection, and policy coordination.

Chongqing It deepens the connection in the certification of organic products, food safety standards, and the protection of geographical indications, and promotes the joint development of shared brand products tailored to the Chinese market.
Extremadura It has a solid agricultural base and expects that digital technology companies and smart equipment from Chongqing will develop demonstration projects in local farms, processing plants or industrial parks.

Chongqing It explores the development and application of sodium batteries and, leveraging its complete industrial hydrogen chain, seeks cooperation in the production and application of green hydrogen and the production of hydrogen from organic waste.
Extremadura It considers green energy one of its greatest advantages and directions with the greatest potential, and invites companies from Chongqing to explore cooperation in solar generation, storage, green hydrogen, equipment manufacturing, and digital management.
- Precise connection between government and companies

During the meeting, the Chongqing Commission on Economy and Information Technology presented the city’s industrial base, opening platforms, and international cooperation, and extended a cooperation invitation to companies from Extremadura. For his part, Councillor Santamaría shared the local development situation in industrial modernization, digital infrastructure, sustainable transportation, and new energy.
The business representatives from both sides held a deep exchange on technological application, supply chain synergy, market entry, and cooperation in projects, identifying points of convergence and areas of cooperation.
