The 2026 World Power Battery Conference, approved by the State Council of China and organized by the People's Government of Sichuan Province, was held from September 3 to 4 in Yibin, Sichuan, under the theme «Powering All, Integrating for Shared Growth». The event features a «1+1+8+N» program, focusing on international cooperation, technological leadership, comprehensive applications, and diversified scenarios.
Spain, guest country of honor
This edition featured Spain as the guest country of honor, consolidating the international cooperation mechanism. In addition, consular officials from Germany, South Korea, and other countries attended, alongside world leaders in the sector. During the conference, the China-Spain Industrial Cooperation Meeting was held, as well as the launch of the International Battery Industry Green Supply Chain Project, with the aim of deepening cross-border collaboration and pragmatic cooperation in the field of power batteries.
8 thematic sessions and great results
The conference features 8 thematic sessions addressing sectoral policies, cutting-edge technologies, new energy storage systems, and battery recycling. Sichuan is forming an expert committee led by renowned academics in the sector to provide top-tier content.
At the center of this conference is the presentation of the Power Battery Industry Development Index (2026) and the Technology Roadmap, which set the direction of the global industry. Technological innovations and industry reports have also been showcased, accompanied by exhibitions and competitions to accelerate the industrialization of cutting-edge technologies.

Unstoppable growth and diversified scenarios
China's power battery industry continues to gain momentum: installed capacity rose from 63.6 GWh in 2020 to 769.7 GWh in 2025. In the first seven months of 2026, cumulative sales reached 790.4 GWh (up 37.1%), and exports totaled 146.7 GWh (up 52.1%).
The conference explores the sector's integration with passenger vehicles, engineering machinery, low-altitude economy, and embodied intelligence, showcasing zero-emission, artificial intelligence, and energy storage projects, as well as the «2026 Jiangyuan Cup Embodied Intelligence Scenario Skills Challenge».

Sichuan, a core battery production hub in China, is driving the transition toward a technological, quality, and value advantage. The region is focusing on solid-state batteries, planning for sodium-ion batteries, and promoting regional recycling centers to complete the industry lifecycle.
Yibin, the host city, is planning the province's first solid-state battery innovation park (2 km²) and a multi-technological route storage park, expanding applications in green vessels, new energy heavy-duty vehicles, and the low-altitude economy to build a new high-quality development model.
